Detanio was a media organization that produced comics, movies, and board games.
The name Detanio is derived from Nine Simon’s
birth name Dean, the now defunct electronics retail company Tandy and the
word studio; De-tan-io.
History
Detanio started when Nine Simon decided to create an organization to promote his comics. Detanio inherited all of the comics that nine had produced before, but its first release was the Flip #1, the first part in the Flip Comic strip series. The series proved popular and was eventually photocopied and distributed.
Detanio then ventured into posters. Posters of Flip and Lightno (then a new creation) became popular. Detanio also started to venture into board games with the creation of the Detanio Games Division.
Nine wanted to incorporated new video creating technics he had learnt, so he created a Movie division named Detanio Films. This division displayed many acclaimed experimental pieces of video. In 1996 Detanio released WFW Action.
Detanio and Nine Foundation merged in late 1996.
