The Audio Asylum Nine Music Controversy

The Audio Asylum Nine Music Controversy was an incident where Audio Asylum ceased all collaborations with Nine Music in 2004.

The incident started when Nine Taurus was trying to get in contact with O2 and Goldie thug of the production company Audio Asylum, to feature in the music video for ‘Mayhem’ from the Nine Anthems album ‘From The Dirt Came Forth Bread'. After several attempts Nine Taurus finally got through to O2.

When Nine Taurus told O2 about featuring in the video, O2 replied by saying “It is not in Audio Asylums best interests to work with Nine Music”. Nine Taurus stunned by what he heard asked if he was joking but O2 confirmed that he was serious about not working with Nine Music.

Nine Taurus went on to find out why he had come to that decision, but O2 failed to give a reason then they both ended the phone conversation. Nine Taurus immediately communicated what had happened to the rest of The Circle. It became the only topic of the next Circle meeting.

Nine Taurus vowed to continue production of the ‘Mayhem’ music video. The other organisations in the Circle eager to see Nine Music’s retaliation to the news. Many thought that Nine Taurus would portray O2 and Goldie Thug as puppets and mannequins after the lyrics of the 9Online song ‘Life’. But Nine Taurus merely cut them and their verses out of the video and made ‘Mayhem’ a joint video with ‘Ninestien’.

To date there hasn’t been any retaliation to the Nine Music boycott by Audio Asylum although Nine Taurus commented on the issue just before performing one of the dates of the Nine Anthems Tour “Audio Asylum were slaves to their group Phobia. They were also very unprofessional but they were good people. I hope they fix up and come to their senses before there talents are wasted and they become rappers that flopped and fade away.”
